Hello and welcome to the Colin Glen Compost Company.

Colin Glen is a newly formed company, but one which has historic roots in the composting industry. The company has been created to develop ways of diverting waste from landfill. The way in which food and garden waste is collected is about to change with the introduction of new legislation and we need to create new facilities to recycle these materials into compost.

Throwing organic materials into landfills not only demands that we keep on creating new landfill sites but also miss an important opportunity to create useful environmentally friendly products, such as compost. Previously such bio-waste was disposed of through landfills, areas set aside for the burial of waste. This creates harmful emissions such as methane gas which is twenty times more damaging to the environment than carbon dioxide. Recognising these factors we have set about creating and managing a revolutionary new composting facility on the outskirts of Belfast.

The ultimate goal of the facility is to produce high quality organic composts which will be used in the horticultural, agricultural and forestry sectors. This can be achieved by processing organic waste and using it in the most efficient and, crucially, the most environmentally friendly way possible.
